Finding a Church

You need Christian community. The Bible says we are not to forsake assembling together (Hebrews 10:25). Here's how to find a good church.

What to Look For

  • βœ“Affirms Jesus is God β€” This is non-negotiable
  • βœ“Teaches from the Bible β€” Not from organizational publications
  • βœ“Welcomes questions β€” Healthy churches encourage learning
  • βœ“Practices grace β€” Not performance-based acceptance

Red Flags

  • βœ—Claims to be the β€œonly true church”
  • βœ—Discourages reading other translations
  • βœ—Leaders cannot be questioned
  • βœ—Salvation requires membership or works

A Note on Denominations

There are many solid denominations: Baptist, Presbyterian, non-denominational Bible churches, and others. The key is that they teach Jesus is God and salvation is by grace through faith. Don't worry about getting the β€œperfect” church β€” just find one that teaches the Bible faithfully. Many churches livestream β€” you can watch first if you're nervous.

β€œWho will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written, β€˜For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’ But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

β€” Romans 8:33-39 (LSB)

You are loved.

You are saved.

You are His.

And NOTHING can take that from you.

The same Jesus who answered my prayer is now YOUR Lord.

He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Welcome to the family.
